Nicole Edmonds serves as Assistant Secretary and Director of Corporate, Securities and Corporate Governance at WGL Holdings, Inc., the parent copmany of Washington Gas Light Company. Nicole is responsible for providing legal support for corporate transactions and securities-related matters, as well as providing legal advice on other high-level issues as needed. Nicole ensures the organization is compliant with federal securities laws and regulations, provides legal advice to senior leaders of the organization, and attends all meetings of the board of directors.
Nicole previously served as Of Counsel in Troutman Sanders LLP's Corporate practice and had a primary focus on the representation of public companies in connection with corporate governance, Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank compliance, annual and special meetings of shareholders, securities exchange listings and compliance, beneficial ownership reporting, securities regulations and securities offerings. Nicole advised public companies with respect to compliance with federal securities laws, drafting public disclosure documents and drafting and negotiating public offering documents.
Prior to her role with Troutman Sanders, Nicole served as sole Clearance Counsel to The Obama White House’s Office of Presidential Personnel. Before that, she served as an Attorney-Adviser in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy. Nicole is a 2004 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law where she was a Dean’s Scholar and served on the Managing Board of the Virginia Tax Review. She graduated summa cum laude from Towson University with a B.S. degree in Finance in 2000. Nicole has been selected to the National Black Lawyers Top 100 list and has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Virginia Super Lawyers Magazine.
