Mark Hatcher is a business partner with the Columbus, Ohio Office of BakerHostetler. BakerHostetler is a full service, AM 100 Law Firm with over 900 lawyers in 14 offices across the country. Mark advises public and private entities in connection with business formation, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and financing. As a member of the firm’s Healthcare Industry team, he also has experience in the area of health law, assisting insurance companies, managed care organizations, hospitals and physician groups with a wide variety of corporate transactions and regulatory matters. His transactional experience includes advising for-profit and tax-exempt healthcare organizations with issues related to asset acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures, equity and debt financings, employment, non-competition and confidentiality agreements, trust agreements, and other matters related to the governance of professional entities. In addition to his corporate practice, he is responsible for handling a variety of real estate acquisition and commercial leasing transactions, and has specific experience working with MBE- and WBE-certified entities. Mark started with BakerHostetler in 2005 as a Summer Associate and was elected to the partnership in 2014. During his tenure with Baker, he has served in various leadership capacities at the office and firmwide level and was recently selected to chair the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and serve as the Hiring Partner for the Columbus Office.
Mark is an avid music collector and audiophile and owns over 5,000 albums of various genres. He is also an automotive enthusiast and enjoys various motorsports.

Mark serves in leadership roles for several organizations, including serving as a trustee for the Next Generation Development Corporation, chairman of the Isabelle Ridgway Foundation, the Ohio Minority Supplier Development Council, and Capital University Law School – Board of Counselors. He is also a Commissioner on the Ohio Supreme Court Continuing Legal Education Commission. In September, 2014, Mark was appointed by Ohio Governor John R. Kasich to serve as a trustee at Central State University where he chairs the Budget and Finance Committee. In 2015 Mark was recognized as one of the “2015 Most Influential Black Lawyers” by Savoy Magazine, the leading African-American lifestyle magazine focusing on fashion, business, technology, and style. The list appeared in the spring issue, and showcased visionaries, leaders, and advocates within the legal profession who are widely recognized for their professionalism, protection of rights, and community service. Savoy Magazine selected the “best of the best” of Black lawyers who are partners within leading national law firms and in-house counsel from Fortune 1000 corporations. Among other honors, Mark has been named an “Ohio Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine each year since 2012. He was recognized in 2009 as one of Columbus Business First’s “Forty Under 40,” inducted into the American Bar Foundation as fellow in 2011, and selected as the 2011 Young Alumnus of the Year by the Capital University Law School Alumni Association. He also was selected as a “Top Lawyer” by Lawyer of Color Magazine in 2014, and was presented with the David D. White Leadership Award by Capital University Law School in 2016.
