In July 2018, Laura Garofalo started her own law firm, Laura Garofalo Law, LLC, focusing on helping employers prevent employment litigation through proper HR policies, training, and HR counseling, and assisting employers with their responses to agency charges.
Ms. Garofalo previously served as Vice President, Sr. Employment Counsel at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), providing counsel to human resources, employee relations, and management teams on employment-related issues; investigating and resolving ethical complaints; managing employment litigation; drafting and revising employment-related agreements, policies, and guidelines; and preparing and conducting training on a variety of employment topics. Prior to JLL, Ms. Garofalo was an associate in the Labor & Employment group at the law firm Holland & Knight LLP.
Law is Ms. Garofalo’s second career. Ms. Garofalo started her career in Human Resources, working for a few years until she decided to go to graduate school full-time to earn an M.B.A. Two weeks after completing her M.B.A., Ms. Garofalo began law school. She has been practicing employment law since 2005.
Ms. Garofalo earned both her Juris Doctor and her M.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago. She holds a B.S.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, with a double major in Human Resources and International Business and a minor in Spanish.
