Every LCLD Member organization is invited to select one or more 1L LCLD Scholars to participate in a summer internship at their organization and attend a summit designed exclusively for 1L LCLD Scholars.

Eligibility and Application Process

Step 1: Register with LCLD.

Register your organization with LCLD here as soon as possible. LCLD will host a hyperlinked page of available opportunities here and market the program to 1L law students beginning December 1, 2020, but postings will be accepted from LCLD Members through March 31, 2021. Please provide a PDF of your job posting along with the name/email address of the contact person to Nancy Richardson at nrichardson@lcldnet.com.

If you are not a Member of LCLD and would like to participate, becoming a Member and registering for the 1L Scholars Program is easy and quick. Click here to join.

Step 2: Hire your Scholar.

1L LCLD Scholar candidates must apply directly to summer internships at the LCLD Member organization(s) of their choice, beginning December 1, 2020. Each Member will independently identify, select, and hire its respective 1L Scholars. 1L Scholar candidates must be enrolled as first-year law students and in good standing at an ABA-approved law school.

Step 3: Register your Scholar.

Register your Scholar by April 9, 2021. LCLD Member organizations will provide their Scholars’ information to LCLD and register their Scholars for the 2021 1L LCLD Scholars Virtual Summit. The summit will include new sessions on personality type in the workplace, law firm mechanics, and wellness--more details will be posted in the coming months. Click here to see what was offered during the 2020 1L Scholars Virtual Program.
