The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity has announced three new members for the LCLD Board of Directors. They are Marie Oh Huber, Louise Pentland, and Kim Rivera.

“Not only are these incredibly talented and successful leaders,” said Laura Stein, Chair of the LCLD Board of Directors. “They have advanced diversity and inclusion throughout their careers.”

The election of the three women brings the LCLD Board to full gender parity for the first time in the organization's history.

Marie Oh Huber is Senior Vice President, Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Secretary for eBay.

“Marie is a recognized leader in diversity and inclusion and believes in an inclusive definition of diversity that involves all in the dialogue,” said Laura.

Under her leadership, the eBay legal team organizes D&I thought leadership events for other in-house counsel, innovates a summer internship program for diverse 1Ls in partnership with outside counsel, and runs a global pro bono program tailored to local geographies.

She is one of less than a handful of Asian-American women serving as the top legal officers in the Fortune 500. She received an Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund Justice in Action Award, a Women’s Legal Defense and Education Fund Women of Achievement Award, and was named one of the Top 50 Multicultural Leaders in Technology.  She is a member of the Council of Korean Americans and the Asian Pacific Fund Community Foundation Advisory Council. 

Louise Pentland is Executive Vice President and Chief Business Affairs and Legal Officer for PayPal.

She has been described in the Huffington Post, as “a passionate advocate for diversity with a deep commitment to human rights.”

Under her leadership, the PayPal legal team operates an international pro-bono initiative serving the needs of communities worldwide. 

Louise was recently recognized for her efforts in this area as the recipient of the 2016 National Legal Aid & Defender Association (NLADA) Exemplar Award.

She holds an LL.B (honours) law degree from the University of Northumbria.

Kim Rivera is Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for HP Inc.

She oversees HP’s worldwide legal, government affairs, brand security, compliance and ethics matters. Kim has been a long-time advocate of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and in corporations.

She has used her General Counsel role as a platform to educate about and advocate for increased diversity in corporations and in the legal profession.

She has been recognized by numerous organizations for her efforts, innovation and leadership in this area. Most recently, she was recognized by Global Counsel as Thought Leader of the Year for her work on diversity and inclusion.

"Kim has established herself as a bold leader in diversity with initiatives, like HP’s requirement that its law firms meet its diversity standards or face a forfeiting of fees,” said Laura. “She is truly staking out new ground.”

Kim holds a B.A. from Duke University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
