I, Todd Machtmes, personally commit to the following:

Personal Commitments

I commit to driving Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (“DE&I) within our teams, our industries, and our communities.

  • I or my delegate from Salesforce’s Legal & Corporate Affairs (“LCA”) team will attend LCLD’s annual meeting to collaborate with peers, share DE&I best practices, and advocate for a more diverse legal profession.
  • I will meet quarterly with the LCA DE&I Committee to discuss their experiences within LCA and recommendations for how the organization can improve.
  • I will continually educate myself on best practices for diversity, equality, and inclusion in a global organization.
  • I will set clear expectations with my leadership team that they include DE&I measures in their annual planning and goal setting processes and that they meet those measures.
  • I will seek out other opportunities to join at least one public panel to share my commitment to DE&I and highlight LCA’s progress in achieving our goals.
  • I will require LCA employees to complete Interviewer Certifications, including our Inclusive Hiring training.
  • I will work with Salesforce’s Office of Equality (“OOE”) and Office of Accessibility to support other trainings, including trainings on unconscious biases and micro-aggressions, to build a more vibrant, diverse, and inclusive organization.
  • I will support the mentoring and other professional development of LCA talent, particularly through programs such as the OOE’s Equality Mentorship program and LCLD’s Fellows and Pathfinder programs.
  • I will communicate LCA’s commitment to creating a more inclusive legal community with our panel law firms and our expectations of them in that journey.

Organizational Commitments

We will develop a diverse, representative, and inclusive Legal team and advance representation, diversity, accessibility and inclusion at every level of our organization. We will celebrate and elevate diverse voices and create a safe space where every team member can feel comfortable, heard, and recognized for their contribution. Our leaders will promote equality, inclusion, and belonging within our teams, Salesforce, and our communities to drive more inclusive and better-informed decision making.

  • We will ensure at least one member of LCA Leadership will participate on a panel or other public event sponsored by at least one organization focused on advancing equality to share their commitment to DE&I and highlight LCA’s progress against its DE&I goals.
  • In collaboration with our Recruiting team, we will participate in career fairs, such as Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s Virtual Career Fair, to increase the visibility of career options to attorneys from all backgrounds in the technology industry.
  • We will review our job requisitions to confirm they are designed to cast a wide net, utilize inclusive language and remove unnecessary requirements that can discourage applicants.
  • We will nurture a diverse next generation of professionals through the deployment of meaningful internship programs, including YearUp interns and summer internships for law students from all backgrounds.

  • We will request that panel law firms respond to DE&I questions when submitting bids, which will be a factor in LCA’s firm selection process.
  • We will encourage panel law firms to share their demographic-billing data with us to better understand how matters are staffed and to ensure that each attorney’s involvement is meaningful and career advancing.
  • We will establish relationships with women and minority-owned law firms for our Legal practice groups to pilot matters.

  • We will hold at least two global LCA Community Service / Pro Bono Days annually, with active, visible participation from LCA Leadership.
  • In furtherance of our Racial Equality and Justice Task Force’s philanthropy goal of donating $10M over 3 years in cash and in-kind support through Tableau, we will make recommendations for opportunities to build nonprofit capacity to use data to fight institutional and structural racism in the U.S.

  • We will partner with our Government Affairs team to establish a formal process for evaluating amicus briefs we are asked to join to ensure alignment with our Equality value and maximize collective impact.
