Personal Commitment

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”) as a core value of MSA Safety and support DEI initiatives within the MSA organization
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and understanding, as well as personal and professional development
  • Encourage opportunities that advance DEI in the greater Pittsburgh community and the broader legal profession

Organizational Commitment

  • Support DEI as an important component of MSA Safety’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program, so that the company is well-positioned to design innovative safety solutions for the diverse needs of workers in dozens of countries, industries, and applications around the world, and enable the company to work with broad pools of talent
  • Oversee publication of MSA Safety’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility report, which will include DEI metrics
  • Stay apprised of best practices in proxy advisory recommendations, institutional investor criteria, and other governance developments with respect to human capital management, “social” ESG, and DEI programs, to contribute these viewpoints to company-wide governance practices and awareness
  • Sponsor a Law Department DEI Committee
  • Pursue opportunities to evaluate Law Department staffing and workplace diversity metrics in ways that meaningfully advance department DEI goals
  • Track Law Department discretionary, high-visibility development opportunities in a way that supports DEI initiatives
  • Create roadmaps and clear processes and criteria for Law Department advancement and promotion opportunities
  • Share the practices above with other departments and functions within the company, and
  • Work with local and national organizations (including LCLD, Coro Center for Leadership, the Pittsburgh Legal Diversity & Inclusion Coalition, and others) to promote and support legal diversity in the Pittsburgh region, and to continue to learn best practices
