Personal Commitments

  • I will actively oppose systemic racism and racist behaviors, and I will ensure that I use my position to actively support diversity, equity, and inclusion in all our recruiting, career development, leadership planning, and other operational efforts.
  • I will ensure that diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values for our legal team, and I will lead our team’s DE&I working group.
  • I will participate in Cascade’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Council and support our efforts to create an environment in which all team members feel they can thrive.
  • I will actively learn about DE&I best practices, including but not limited to participating in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity; and I will encourage those around me to learn about and apply those best practices.
  • I will continue to mentor diverse law firm associates through our law firm mentorship program.
  • I will support and sponsor diverse talent on our team and throughout Cascade.
  • I will actively engage with, and support nonprofit organizations dedicated to the underserved.

Organizational Commitments

  • We will continue expanding our network of world-class attorneys by ensuring that we are aware of talented diverse lawyers with the skills and experience to meet our needs and by actively considering a diverse range of lawyers when making engagement decisions.
  • We will expand our sourcing pipeline and interview a diverse slate of candidates for all open positions.
  • We will continue to actively collect and use data to understand and evaluate outside counsel’s approach to DE&I, including with respect to how they support Cascade’s legal needs, and we will regularly engage in open discussions with outside counsel regarding their performance on DE&I.
  • We will ensure that we have a brave space for learning and sharing on topics related to DE&I.
