Personal Commitment

  • I personally commit to promoting a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at all levels of McCarter & English, LLP and I will lead by example through my words and concrete actions.
  • I will continue to actively participate in and support all DEI initiatives, including our internal diversity programs, trainings and recruiting efforts. 
  • I will continue to identify diverse lawyers and professionals for leadership and management opportunities.
  • I will work closely with our DEI, Women’s Initiative, and Social Justice Project Task Force teams to foster and support inclusion and equity within McCarter and our local communities.

Organizational Commitment

  • McCarter will ensure that its DEI initiatives and resources are readily shared with and accessible to all employees. 
  • McCarter will continue to prioritize regular trainings and educational/informational experiences on DEI-related topics.
  • McCarter will ensure that members of the firm’s leadership team actively participate and support the firm DEI efforts programming. 
  • McCarter will continue to encourage all principals to assist in advancing the firm’s DEI initiatives.
  • McCarter will build and maintain strategic diversity-focused partnerships with clients and organizations.
  • McCarter will encourage all principals to share our DEI initiatives when meeting with clients.
  • McCarter will continue to enhance our pipeline efforts at the high school, college and law school levels.
  • McCarter will continue to develop plans to support the retention and advancement of diverse lawyers and professionals. 
  • McCarter will help to support diverse law students by encouraging our attorneys serve as liaisons to law school diverse affinity groups and as mentors to students.
  • McCarter will continue to engage with and sponsor student groups, bar associations, and other organizations that support underrepresented groups in the legal community, and will continue to encourage our attorneys to take leadership roles in such organizations. 
  • McCarter will continue to engage with and support LCLD by nominating two Pathfinders and one Fellow each year.


  • McCarter will continue to increase the percentage of women and diverse laterals hired at the associate, counsel and partner levels.
  • McCarter will continue to increase the percentage of women and diverse law students invited to participate in our summer intern programs.
  • McCarter will continue to diversify its leadership team.
