As a product attorney in MetLife’s Law Department, Ronald is responsible for providing legal advice in relation to the development, filing, marketing, and distribution of annuity and life insurance products. Ronald partners with actuaries to develop annuity products and draft contracts for filing with the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (“IIPRC”) and state Insurance Departments. He also works with marketing and training professionals to develop material that will be used to promote products and train distributors. In addition, he leads teams responsible for overseeing regulatory inquiries, customer complaints, and lawsuits; and he advises the Compliance Department in relation to recently implemented or amended laws, rules, and regulations.
Prior to his role as a product attorney, Ronald served as an attorney in MetLife’s Litigation Section where he was responsible for supervising domestic and international actions related to corporate investments, the sale & marketing of financial products, insurance disputes, regulatory inquiries, and banking/mortgage issues.
Prior to joining MetLife’s Law Department, Ronald was an attorney with Wilson Elser, where he represented banks and insurers in litigation in state and federal courts. He started his legal career as Deputy Counsel for the New York State Assembly Transportation Committee, where he drafted legislation and analyzed the fiscal impact of transportation related issues.
Ronald has held various roles on law firm and corporate diversity committees focusing on identifying, recruiting and developing future leaders. He has also served as a panelist on various topics for the National Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the New York County Lawyer’s Association.
Ronald earned his B.S. from The College at Brockport and his J.D. from New York Law School. He is admitted to practice in New York state and federal courts.
