Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Secretary, Uber

Tony West leads a global team of more than 600 people in Uber’s Legal, Compliance and Ethics, and Security functions. With more than 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, he has previously served as Corporate Secretary and Executive Vice President of PepsiCo, and as the Associate Attorney General of the United States. Tony was was twice confirmed by the Senate to serve as senior official in the Obama administration and, upon leaving in 2014, was presented with the Edmund J. Randolph Award, the Justice Department’s highest honor. During his time in that role, Tony secured nearly $37 billion in fines and restitution for Americans who were harmed in the 2009 financial crisis, and led the Justice Department’s review of the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). He graduated with honors from Harvard College, where he served as publisher of the Harvard Political Review, and received his law degree from Stanford Law School, where he was president of the Stanford Law Review.
