General Counsel, Mastercard

Tim Murphy has held various roles with Mastercard since 2000, including Chief Product Officer, President of the U.S. Region, and Associate General Counsel. He became General Counsel in 2014. Tim also serves on the Board of Trustees of the National Urban League, a civil rights organization dedicated to economic empowerment in underserved communities.

Mastercard promotes diversity and inclusion through business resource groups, supplier diversity programs, and commitments in the community. In 2016, Mastercard was No. 7 on DiversityInc's list of the top 50 companies for diversity, in part for the high percentage of Asians, African Americans, and Latinos in senior leadership roles.

"Our inclusive culture is about more than simply having a diverse workforce – it's about using diversity to drive real business impact," Tim wrote in Mastercard's diversity report. "We want our employees to know they're making a real difference when they bring different ways of thinking to the table."

Mastercard was named an LCLD Top Performer in 2018 and 2019.
