General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Microsoft Corporation

Hossein Nowbar is responsible for Microsoft’s corporate legal team, including the intellectual property, litigation, compliance, and competition teams. A Microsoft veteran, he joined the company in 1997 as an attorney before serving in several leadership roles and becoming General Counsel in July 2021. Prior to Microsoft, Hossein practiced law at Davis Wright Tremaine.

With a data-informed approach, Microsoft has pioneered the use of incentives for outside counsel to prioritize diversity and inclusion—adding to the corporation’s stellar reputation on these issues. In early 2014, Microsoft Corporation provided a $250,000 grant to LCLD to fund new levels of innovation in our programs and outreach.

Microsoft was named an LCLD Top Performer in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
