Head of Legal U.S. & Associate General Counsel, Shell Oil Company

Hector Pineda has been at Shell since 1995 and became Head of Legal U.S. in 2016. He is a director of the Texas Lyceum, an association that promotes “leadership for Texans by Texans” and in 2013, was named Hispanic Male Executive of the Year by the Houston Chamber of Commerce.

“We [in senior positions] need to advocate for those coming up behind us…,” Pineda said in an interview with Hispanic Executive. “Even if no one did it for you, a leader should try to do it for someone else.”

In 2004, Shell won the Catalyst Award for successful implementation of diversity initiatives, greatly increasing female representation at all levels. The company’s diversity efforts include employee networks, a supplier diversity program, and community outreach. Shell was named a Most Active Member Corporation in 2015.
