1L LCLD Scholars Program

The 1L LCLD Scholars Program, led by Laura Stein, is one of the Pipeline Committee's key strategies designed to strengthen the legal pipeline by expanding the number of opportunities for diverse first-year law students. The 1L LCLD Scholars Program gives these students the rare opportunity to work side-by-side with attorneys and other legal specialists in our organizations on legal issues. It is our hope that this program will provide a valuable experience for the Scholars and create an opportunity for the Pipeline Committee to develop strategic partnerships with law schools that support our initiatives.

Eligibility, Selection and Hiring Process

  • Employers must be current LCLD Members which includes a signed LCLD Commitment Statement and paid annual dues.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as first-year law students in good standing at an ABA accredited law school.
  • The criteria by which candidate(s) are selected will be left up to the individual firms/corporations at this time. Keep in mind, however, that the overall goal of the LCLD is to increase diversity in the legal profession and that under-represented populations in our profession are of primary interest to LCLD's work.
  • The 1L LCLD Scholars Program will rely on member organizations to identify, select, and hire their 1L LCLD Scholar(s).
