Monica Roberts Thomas joined GlaxoSmithKline effective 27 May 2008 to support the Global Manufacturing and Supply Legal Operations group and currently supports the U.S. Sales and Marketing Legal Operations group as lead brand attorney for BREO ELLIPTA and INCRUSE ELLIPTA. In her current role, she advises on issues to ethically and legally deliver comprehensive advertising campaigns with cumulative promotion budgets of over $200MM.
Prior to joining GlaxoSmithKline, Monica practiced corporate law at Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, L.L.P., a regional firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she gained experience in both mergers and acquisitions and securities law. Immediately upon graduating from law school, she also completed a one year clerkship with the Honorable Mark Martin, Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Monica received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Area Studies from DukeUniversity in 1994, and her Juris Doctor degree from North Carolina Central University in 2004. During the period between college and law school, Monica spent nearly seven (7) years working for a national bank where she supervised one of the first Spanish-speaking direct sales teams that structured consumer loans and marketed brokerage products to Spanish-speaking clients.
Outside of work, Monica enjoys books, comedy, music, travel and time with her family.
