WELCOME TO THE MONTHLY PATHFINDER NEWSLETTER
"Pathways" will be distributed to current and alumni Pathfinders each month and feature program news and information, alerts of upcoming events, and updates on your fellow Pathfinders to help you get the most out of your involvement in the LCLD Pathfinder Program. Past Pathways newsletters will be archived on the LCLD website.
We want to hear from you! If you received a promotion, changed jobs, are engaged in community service, or have a practice-related publication, we want to share it. If you plan to host a Pathfinder Meet-Up, or are attending a national or regional event and want to connect with other Pathfinders while traveling, let us know. Email newsletter submissions to Caitlin Puffenberger at firstname.lastname@example.org or Walt Lohmann at email@example.com.

Diversity: Key to a Happier Legal Profession
Diversity in our workforce and our ways of working is the key to a more effective legal profession, according to Anne-Marie Slaughter, CEO of New America and a past LCLD Annual Meeting speaker, in a special commentary written for LCLD. Law school enrollment is down, many lawyers are unhappy with their jobs, and law firms are losing talent, particularly female talent, she explains. “Ways of working that leave room for lives outside the law will improve the productivity and quality of legal practice,” and will also make more room for diverse talent, Slaughter concludes. There are many exciting leadership opportunities for Pathfinder Alumni who wish to take a greater role in LCLD and continue to expand the program.
- Arrange a local/regional Pathfinder Meet-Up. These events can be organized ad hoc and initiated by anyone. If interested, email Lori Lorenzo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Organize bi-annual calls to allow Pathfinders to connect, update one another on professional achievements, and check in on skill development. If interested, email Walt Lohmann at email@example.com.
- Connect with other LCLD programs. To participate in the LCLD Success in Law School Mentoring Program or Group Mentoring Program, email Nancy Richardson at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information on working with the Fellows programming committee, email Nichole Velasquez.
- Become Inaugural Chair of the Pathfinder Alumni Annual Gathering. The sky is the limit for the first-ever Pathfinder Alumni gathering, but someone needs to lead the way.
