The mission of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity is to bring together the leadership of law firms and companies to use all of the means at our disposal to realize a truly diverse profession. We recognize and affirm that having diverse talent is a critical element to having the best talent.
To assure that our profession allows the best talent to flourish, it is important that we do everything in our power to eliminate impediments which preclude minorities and women from having a full and fair opportunity to perform, to succeed, and to lead. Despite the important work of a number of professional organizations and bar associations, the profession’s progress in this regard remains disappointing. We believe that there is a unique opportunity to effect material change if law firms and companies collaborate in addressing diversity. We also believe that this opportunity can best be realized if the leaders of law firms and companies come together to take action to effect change, both in their institutions and with others in their circles of influence. To that end, we commit to continuing the work of the Call to Action initiative to significantly advance diversity in our profession, and we look forward to working with other organizations of kindred spirit to achieve that goal.
