Over the past 18 years, I have represented both plaintiffs and defendants in commercial matters in state and federal courts throughout Texas, routinely handling every phase of litigation from injunction hearings and pre-trial discovery through trial and post-judgment enforcement proceedings.
My practice has largely focused on two areas.
Banking and Consumer Finance Litigation:
I have years of experience representing commercial institutions, investment banks and mortgage servicers in complex mortgage securitization, secured transactions, commercial loan and consumer litigation. This experience includes defending loan sellers in cases involving commercial mortgage-backed securities. I have also represented banks and mortgage servicers against claims arising under the Fair Housing Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Truth in Lending Act and a host of other statutes and common law, as well as in post-judgment enforcement and collection matters.
I have more than a decade of substantive experience representing owners and contractors in state and federal court in lawsuits involving construction negligence, acceleration and/or delay claims, and mechanics’ and materialmans’ lien disputes. My construction-related experience also includes serving, on an interim basis, as in-house counsel for a political subdivision.
Beyond my law practice, I am proud of my community and bar involvement, locally and nationally. I also have a background (and abiding interest) in foreign affairs, and have published in this area. I also love reading biographies.
