Nick Ranjan is a partner with the law firm of K&L Gates LLP, resident in its Pittsburgh headquarters. He is a commercial litigator, whose practice focuses on energy (primarily upstream and midstream oil and gas), arbitration, class action defense, and appellate litigation. He has been selected by Chambers USA as one of the top commercial litigators in Pennsylvania since 2014, with clients commending his "creative approach and responsiveness."
Before joining the firm, Nick served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Deborah L. Cook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He also served as the 2003 "Simon Karas" fellow with the Ohio Attorney General's office, where he worked with the solicitor general in the briefing of all major appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court, Ohio Supreme Court, and Sixth Circuit.
Nick currently serves as a committee member for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Litigation Center, where he provides advice on the chamber's amicus involvement on important business issues across the country and has represented the chamber as counsel of record. Nick is also an active mentor for Pittsburgh-area middle school students; is an elder at his church; serves on a board for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; and is an accomplished classical and jazz violinist of over 30 years.
