Melissa Lauderdale is Assistant General Counsel at Exelon, a Forture 100 company comprised of electric and gas utilities and competitive energy companies. Melissa supports Constellation, Exelon's retail energy supply company that provides electricity and natural gas to customers in areas open to competition as well distributed energy and energy efficiency solutions. She leads the team that provides regulatory and compliance support for the retail businesses. Melissa recieved her J.D. from the University of Texas Law School and her LL.M. from the University of Edinburgh in 1995. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts from the Plan II Honors Program and a Masters of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.
Prior to joining Exelon, Melissa was Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Integrys Energy Services where she managed state and federal government and regulatory affairs for the company. Prior to Integrys, Melissa was in the General Counsel's Office at the Edison Electric Institute, the trade association for investor owned utilities, where she handled issues before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and management of the EEI power contract.
Melissa previously served as President of the Retail Energy Supply Association, where she is currently Parliamentarian. She also served as the Standardized Contracts Vice Chair for the American Bar Association Gas and Electricity Marketing Committee. Melissa currently volunteers as a mentor at the Crossroads Middle School in urban Baltimore and is assisting a transgender client with a name and gender identity change as a pro bono project. She and her wife and eleven year old daughter live in Baltimore County.
