I help people live healthier lives by solving complex global benefits issues with a dedicated team of professionals working across functions and disciplines. We do this by placing a premium on integrity, relationships, compassion, accountability and performance. I joined UnitedHealth Group in March 2012 as an Associate General Counsel for UnitedHealthcare Global, which supports the commercial activities of UnitedHealth Group’s International Division. I am primarily responsible for managing legal issues relating to the Global Insurance (Expatriate) capabilities.
Before joining UnitedHealth Group, I was in private practice in the Minneapolis office of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, where I focused on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and represented public and private companies in a variety of commercial transactions and general corporate issues. I was also involved with the firm’s Indian Finance practice which represents tribes, developers, lenders and underwriters in securities offerings and financing transactions for gaming, hotel, and entertainment facilities. Before that and law school, I held financial analyst and claims examiner roles within TIAA-CREF and MassMutual.
When I am not at work or home with my family, I serve as a member of the board of directors of BreakThrough Twin Cities, an educational nonprofit that prepares under-resourced students for college success and cultivates the next generation of educators, and as a mentor, sponsor, representative and former board member of Diversity in Practice, a nonprofit association comprised of the leading Twin-Cities legal employers with a single mission: to attract, recruit, advance, and retain attorneys of color in and to the Twin Cities legal community.
