Kandace Patton Watson Profile Image

Kandace Watson is a Partner at Kilpatrick Townsend. Watson leads the Corporate Department's Southern California Chemical & Life Sciences and Medical Devices Teams and heads the Southern California Mergers and Acquisitions, Securities, and Corporate Team. She has extensive boardroom experience and broad-based business and financial knowledge. Corporate boards and executive management teams seek Watson’s oversight and acumen as they navigate increasingly complex corporate governance, IP, legal, and regulatory matters affecting corporate operations and global expansion strategies.

Watson sits side-by-side with C-suite and other executives to develop strategies for product research, drug development, commercialization, manufacturing, supply and distribution, as well as corporate financing, social media, tax minimization, regulatory compliance, and other strategic initiatives for leading companies. She is well reputed as an adroit and collegial advisor and confidant during executive sessions, as boards and independent committees face executive performance, risk mitigation, resource allocation, strategic planning, and ongoing operational challenges. She is experienced at overseeing legal, finance, scientific, technical, and operational teams to minimize disruption during corporate transitions.

Watson was recommended in 2016 by Legal 500 US for her work in M&A and buyouts and was named by The Transcript as San Diego’s “Top Attorneys 2015” in corporate transactional law. She obtained her J.D. with honors from University of Texas at Austin and her B.A. in mathematics with highest honors from Hampton University. Prior to her 20-year legal career, Watson conducted biomedical and mathematics-related research.
