I am a health care regulatory attorney with a split practice between long term care (e.g., skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities), and pharmacy law. In my long term care practice, I primarily work with skilled nursing facilities, and assisted or independent living facilities on their regulatory compliance and licensing issues, including contract review. My pharmacy law practice includes 50-state and federal regulatory analysis for all aspects of the supply chain from manufacturers, to wholesalers, to pharmacies. Some matters I routinely handle include the following:
- Advise clients on fraud and abuse issues, the Stark Law and Anti-Kickback regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, HIPAA, OIG exclusion authority, and other compliance matters, including the drafting of compliance program manuals.
- Advise assisted living and skilled nursing facility clients on regulatory compliance, including review of admission agreements, medical director agreements, and various facility policies.
- HIPAA and state privacy and security regulation compliance.
- Handle change of ownership (CHOW) transactions, including drafting and submitting required notices and applications to governmental agencies.
I like to spend every minute of my free time with my husband, Eric, and our toddler son, Forrest. Somewhere between shuttling from soccer and swimming and other fun 2-year old activities, the three of us love to explore new brunch spots in Chicago and cheer on the Chicago Cubs and THE Ohio State Buckeyes.
