Janice Baker is Vice President & Counsel at GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the U.S. and Irish commercial aircraft financing and leasing business of General Electric Company (GE). GECAS has a fleet of over 2,000 owned and managed aircraft with over 270 customers in over 75 countries. At GECAS, Janice is responsible for structuring, negotiating and administering a wide variety of aviation transactions, including aircraft acquisitions and sales, sale-leaseback transactions, operating lease transactions, structured finance, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions.
Prior to joining GECAS in October 2015, Janice spent more than ten (10) years in various roles with increasing responsibility within the legal department at GE Aviation, a multi-billion dollar business that is a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of turbine engines for civil and military fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters, as well as aeroderivative engines for marine applications. While at GE Aviation, Janice supported the Commercial Engines and Services business units and was responsible for structuring, negotiating and closing complex domestic and international transactions, including commercial sales, service and supply agreements, acquisitions, divestitures and joint venture formations.
Janice is a member of the bar of the State of Ohio, the bar of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the American Bar Association’s Forum on Air & Space Law and the International Aviation Women’s Association.
Janice graduated summa cum laude from University of Dayton Law School in 2003 and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Dayton in 1999.
