Crystal Barnes is Associate General Counsel – Employment at Lockheed Martin Corporation. In this role she advises the company on a broad scope of employment law matters, including wage and hour, leaves of absence, disability accommodation, restrictive covenants, reductions in force, retaliation and discrimination claims. Previously, Crystal practiced employment law at the Washington, D.C. offices of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., and Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, P.C., where she represented employers in federal and state courts and administrative proceedings regarding a variety of employment law claims.
Crystal received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University, where she majored in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and her Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center. At Georgetown, Crystal served as an editor for the American Criminal Law Review. She also participated in the Juvenile Justice Clinic and upon graduation, became a founding board member of D.C. Lawyers for Youth, an advocacy organization focused on reforms within the DC juvenile justice system that promote positive youth development, effective legal representation, and supportive relationships between the community and DC’s youth. Crystal volunteers with the Unique Learning Center, a D.C. based organization that provides youth with after school tutoring and mentorship. She also serves as a volunteer with the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
