Brian Pandya is a partner at Wiley Rein LLP in Washington, DC where his practice focuses on patent litigation and counseling. Brian has represented leading technology and pharmaceutical companies in tribunals across the United States and internationally, including the U.S. Supreme Court, Federal Circuit, Ninth Circuit, federal district courts in Virginia, Texas, Delaware, California, Nevada, Illinois, and Massachusetts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the Court of Federal Claims, in private arbitrations and mediations, and in arbitrations before the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
In addition to his litigation practice, Brian often advises clients on software licensing, patent transactions, copyright and trademark matters, and IP policy issues, including advising clients on the recent patent reform legislation and submitting amicus briefs on important patent policy issues. A frequent speaker and writer, Brian was recognized by The Legal 500 US for his work in Supreme Court and appellate matters, noting that he is “widely esteemed” (2015). Brian has been quoted in publications such as Forbes, Bloomberg BNA, Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, and the San Francisco Chronicle and has spoken to legal and business groups in the United States, Europe, and India. Brian also maintains an active pro bono practice, where his experiences include representing disabled military veterans and assisting students seeking political asylum.
Before joining Wiley Rein, Brian clerked for the Honorable Leonard Davis, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was an articles editor for the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review, and his B.S. in mechanical engineering, with honors and high distinction, from The Pennsylvania State University, where he was the recipient of the Ralph Dorn Hetzel Memorial Award.
