Andy is an Assistant General Counsel in Microsoft Corporate, External and Legal Affairs department. His current practice focuses on artificial intelligence, intellectual property licensing and counseling, online publishing and advertising, digital media, privacy and First Amendment issues for Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence and Research group. The AI&R legal team provides worldwide strategic legal support for Microsoft’s online services including Bing, Bing Ads, Ambient Computing and related services. Previously, Andy supported other groups within Microsoft including Microsoft Teams, MSN, MSN Music, MSN Entertainment and msnbc.com. Before joining Microsoft, Andy was associated with Davis Wright Tremaine’s communications, media, and information technology group. Andy serves on the board of directors of the Media Law Resource Center, is a committee co-chair of the American Bar Association Forum on Communications Law, a 2014 fellow of the Leadership Council for Legal Diversity and a graduate of the University of Washington and New York University School of Law. He enjoys planning his next vacation with his wife and two children (the planning is almost more fun than the actual trip) and reorganizing his online music playlists.
