Andrew Cooper is the managing attorney of the Intellectual Property portfolio for UPS. In this role Andrew is responsible for all legal aspects of the company's intellectual property including new filings, due diligence, licensing, and litigation. Prior to managing the intellectual property portfolio at UPS, Andrew served as counsel for the Global Procurement, Plant Engineering and Construction departments of the company. As procurement counsel, Andrew was responsible for providing and managing legal support for purchasing and other commercial activities involving these business functions, and for advising leaders of the relevant business units on matters pertaining to legal risk. Prior to joining UPS, Andrew was an Associate Attorney in the Patent Litigation group of Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP where he specialized in telecommunications and software technology, and notably authored amicus curiae to the United States Supreme Court on behalf of the Intellectual Property Owner’s Association. Andrew is a graduate of George Washington University and Emory Law School.
Raised in a single-wide trailer in rural South Carolina, Andrew is committed to giving back to underserved communities. Andrew is a board member of Page Turners Makes Great Learners, a charitable organization focused on improving child literacy. He also a former board member of Artistic Advocates for Healing, a non-profit dedicated to raising money for abused children. Andrew contributes pro bono as a guardian ad litem for the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.
