Managing Partner, McGuireWoods LLP

Thomas Cabaniss’ practice areas include real estate and commercial lending and banking and creditors’ rights. He has been quoted on the importance of LCLD, saying, “McGuireWoods saw the LCLD as being in a unique position to help increase the number of successful diverse lawyers in both large corporate law departments and large law firms by increasing both the number of successful diverse students in law schools and – on the opposite end – law firm partners and general counsel. In the end, participation in a program like this makes us a better law firm and helps us better represent our clients.”

McGuireWoods promotes diversity and inclusion through several affinity networks, law preview and diversity scholarships, and flexible work policies, aided by a family-leave liaison. The firm has received recognition from the Minority Corporate Counsel Association for its diversity retreats and from Equality Illinois for its commitment to LGBT inclusion. McGuireWoods was named an LCLD Most Active Member Law Firm in 2016.
