David Yawman joined PepsiCo in 1998, where he held multiple legal roles and spent two years as Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer before becoming General Counsel in 2017. Before joining Pepsi, he was an Associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP. David is also Chairman of the Board of the Pro Bono Partnership.
“Both the consumers of our products and our employee population are hugely and widely diverse; we are essentially all of society,” David said in a recent interview. “So we make it a factor in acquiring outside legal services to see both firms and then the teams of partners and lawyers that work on our matters be diverse.”
PepsiCo prides itself on being a long-time supporter of diversity. They were the first major company to appoint an African-American vice president and recently received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index. One of PepsiCo's more recent diversity initiatives is a targeted leadership and gender diversity program for female employees in Saudi Arabia.
